UK trade in tropical fish and GM fish incidents recorded in the UK during 2005:

September 2005: Following the incident in November 2004 the GM Inspectorate (GMI) and Fish Health Inspectorate (FHI) continued to work together to investigate any further reports of a similar nature. In 2005, responding to an article in the ‘Angling Times’ claiming a carp farmer in Kent had developed GM carp that grow exceptionally quickly, a further investigation by the FHI suggested the carp were not genetically modified as defined in EC Directive 2001/18.
