Commercial ('Part C') Releases
There are currently no commercial
releases of GM crops in the UK.
During the period 1999-2002 maize genetically modified to be tolerant to the
herbicide glufosinate ammonium with authorisation for marketing under EU Directive
90/220/EC was planted as part of the Farm Scale Evaluation trials. Whilst visiting
these sites the inspector noted whether the site complied with the SCIMAC
code of practice for GM crops.
